Roommate Release Form |
The roommate release form is a legal document that is completed when a contracted roommate has decided to leave before the end of the lease agreement and agrees to continue to take responsibility for the remainder of the term of the lease
Once this document has been completed, it must be signed before a notary public for acknowledgement.
How to Write
Step 1 – Download in Adobe PDF (.pdf).
Step 2 – Exiting Roommate’s Information –
- Full name as stated on their share of the lease agreement
- Full address of the unit location
- Effective leave date in dd/m/yy format
- Since the exiting roommate will forfeit their security deposit to their roommates who shall remain, enter the names of all roommates remaining
Step 3 – Remaining Roommates Information-
- Enter the roommate(s) name(s) who shall agree to assume complete responsibility for the lease
- Landlord or Agent for landlord’s signature
Step 4 – Notarization –
- Once the notary has witnessed all signatories and recorded the information, they shall complete the notary section and acknowledge the document by dated notary signature and shall affix their stamp or seal (if any)
